Bankroll depletion - poker preparation
Well after the success of my WCOOP i had a bankroll that rose steadily to $5000 and a fantastic OPR - ROI percentage. I had some ups and downs but maintained things. Most of my play has been on Pokerstars and on the $10 - $20 MTT mark
I was well on the way to my ambition of playing poker for a living with this bankroll in the first month. Sadly it was not to last. I got a few bills in and a mahoosive dental bill of £360 and was forced to withdraw $3000 of my BR. I had at this point run it down to only $4000 and was now about to extract from that.
I felt confident i could run things back up and so ahead i went. I had little choice. With some of the money i decided to invest in www.pokerxfactor.com which is a poker training site. Basically it is full of recorded videos of some of the top players online in the world playing tournament. They explain their thinking and you get to see their actions with their cards. It's like being in their head and behind their eyes as they play in the biggest tournaments online. This is not cheap but if i'm serious about playing poker for a living this time next year (Sept 08) then i cannot let chances like that go. Annette Obrestad the teeenage poker prodigy who has just won the 1st WSOPE (and so becomes the youngest ever winner of a WSOP bracelet) recently gave an interview on www.pocketfives.com and when asked for advice for up and coming players said that they should join a poker training site; to forget about the books and that they will learn far more from one of these sites. How can you argue with someone of her reputation and calibre.
So off i went and signed up.
I also went on to www.amazon.co.uk and ordered a stack of poker literature. I hope to plough through it in the course of the year ( it will take that long ) and give you some feedback on them. Hopefully by the time i finish them i will be a pro player.......
